Rosie's Story

A SEARCH FOR RELIEF.
A DISCOVERY THAT HELPED GENERATIONS.

ARU began with Rosie - her experience, her determination and her belief that nature often holds the answers.

It All Started In the Garden

Rosie developed a allergy to tomatoes whilst gardening. At first it was just on her hands, but over time
her eczema became severe.
Her skin worsened and what began on her hands spread to her neck and face and then
 all over her body.
She was so sensitive that even tomato ketchup residue from her children's school uniform could trigger a reaction that would put her in hospital.

"We couldn't even have tomato ketchup at school.
If it got on our clothes and mum touched it, she could end up in hospital."

A Turning Point

As Rosie's condition worsened she was prescribed steroid creams,
but her skin became increasingly reactive.

Eventually the eczema was so severe she was hospitalised due to the
risk of her throat closing.

Rose didn't want to rely on steroids any more. She carefully weaned
herself off them and set out to find a gentler, natural way forward.

ROOTED IN BUDDHIST
TRADITION

Rosie was a Buddhist and had been part of Samye-ling Tibetan Centre in Scotland from the very beginning - helping, cooking and contributing and learning meditation. She also studied Tibetan Medicine , which deepened her understanding of the healing power of plants.

A Search For Something
That Could Help

Rosie believed looking for something similar to the condition might hold the answer. She explored many herbs and natural remedies. She tried nettles. She tried Lavender Oils.
But nothing brought any relief. She kept searching.

The Discovery of Borage

Rosie first tried rubbing

A Moment
Rosie Never Forgot

Rosie put a dot of tomato ketchup on her hand.
She held her breath.
Before she would have had an immediate, painful reaction.
But this time - nothing.
Her skin was calm.
She could eat tomatoes again.
After so many years of fears
she finally had her life back.

Rosie never intended to create a business.

She had simply found something that had changed her own life, and she wanted to share it.

People came to her looking for help, often after trying countless creams and treatments without success. Rosie welcomed them with warmth, listened to their stories and shared both her cream and the practical advice she had learned through years of living with sensitive skin herself.

Many customers became friends. Some travelled long distances just to see her, while others continued using her cream for years, later returning to buy it for their own children and grandchildren.

For Rosie, helping people was always the most important part of ARU.
